Meg began studying Eastern philosophy in '96 and began to explore both the Eastern and Western styles of Yoga shortly after.
She was certified at the Miami Yogashala in 2004. The program focused on Asana (physical pose), Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), Pranayama (breath control), Meditation, dynamic flow sequencing and developing classes for students with physical ailments or limitations.
In 2011 Meg received her 2nd teaching certification from the world-renowned Ashtanga teacher Manju Jois. Manju Jois is the son of the founder of Ashtanga Yoga. The Ashtanga certification is one of the most rigorous and comprehensive teaching certifications around. Meg continues to refine her teaching skills and deepen her knowledge of the 8 limbs of Yoga through ongoing study on her own mat and with a variety of teachers in the US, Europe and Asia, her most favorite including; Paul Toliuszis (Vinyasa Flow, Miami) Mano (Sivananda, London) Swami Prabuddhananda (Advaita Vedanta, SF/India) and Manju Jois (Ashtanga). The style that she most often teaches is an eclectic mix, drawing elements from the following techniques: Vinyasa-Flow, Yin, Tibetan Heart, Tai-Chi, Forrest, Modern Dance, Core, Power, Ashtanga Primary and Second Series and enjoys providing refreshing musical mixes to her sequences. She attributes the Advaita Vedanta philosophy (philosophy of non-dualism) to opening her heart and mind the most throughout her yoga journey.
Meg finds great joy in teaching yoga. Her instruction is clear and concise, emphasizing alignment and stillness; encouraging focus and balance for mind and body, which she believes has a direct effect on the well-being of the Spirit. She encourages laughter and looseness in her classes and inspires integral lessons that can be applied both on and off the mat. She urges her students to reveal their intuition during class, and asks them to bring that truth-evoking awareness with them throughout their day to allow it to generate direct guidance in their lives.
Meg is daily working on the philosophy of being "pathless". Pathless for her means living life in the Here and Now. Living each breath, each moment, one second at a time... Often she believes we get caught up in the thought of "oh, down the road, I hope I will change" or "down the road, I will choose to release these judgements or emotions". Being on the "path", may prolong our attachment to suffering. Living life in the present moment is the true purpose of Yoga. Realizing fully what the present moment has to offer!
Meg has taught in New York, San Francisco, Miami, Guatemala, Haiti and throughout the Yucatan peninsula. Her other fascinations include still photography, piano + flute, reading, salsa dancing, contemporary dance, traveling, and meeting kindred-spirits along the way.
